Plot Summary: After her grandmother passes away, Poppy takes her dog, Pepper on walks around her neighborhood. Her mother hasn't been the same since Gran passed and spends her time inside watching TV, unable to leave the couch. When Pepper leads Poppy through a hole in the fence, she discovers a forest in the middle of the city. She meets a new friend, Rob, too and he teaches her everything she needs to know about the wilderness.

My Verdict: What a cute and wholesome read! There was very little dialogue throughout, so I felt like I could take my time appreciating the unique art style. The main character, Poppy, has started taking her dog on walks after her grandmother has passed away. Poppy's mom is grieving and most days she is not getting up off of the couch. Walking her dog has been a nice escape for Poppy but one day she goes through a hole in the fence to find this beautiful hidden forest. In this forest, she meets a new friend, Rob and he helps Poppy rediscover the little joys in life through nature.
